The National Water Resources Board (NWRB) has approved the allocation of 46 cubic meters per second (CMS) to the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) for the month of May until the month of June. This is to ensure that water supply is available in performing preventive measures against the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) such as frequent handwashing and other hygiene, cleaning and disinfection activities.

With the ongoing strong El Niño in the country, the National Water Resources Board resolved a 5% decrease from last month’s water allocation for domestic and municipal use starting today. According to NWRB Executive Director Sevillo D. David Jr., the Board approved the 36 cubic meters per second (cms) in October from 38 cms last September for MWSS.

WATER SECTOR PREPARES FOR EL NIÑO MITIGATION
Quezon City - Metro Manila water users are encouraged to use water wisely in preparation for the effects of stronger El Niño in the last quarter of the year up to the first months of 2016. Though heavy rains are intermittently experienced in the metro, these may only last until September according to PAGASA.
